Accounts Payable Specialist

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Disc Medicine is seeking an Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist to be an integral part of its growing team. Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, the successful candidate will be responsible for all accounts payable functions, including but not limited to processing invoices, reconciling vendor statements, and monthly AP accrual.  The AP Specialist must be detail-oriented and a strong team player with excellent communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Receive all invoices, ensure accuracy, verify services are rendered or goods are received, and purchase orders and proper approvals are obtained, as well as maintaining proper documentation.
• Ensure payment of recurring items such as rent, health insurance, etc.
• Research and resolve discrepancies and respond to vendor inquiries.
• Prepare new vendor documentation.
• Prepare a biweekly payment run.
• Assist with external and internal audit processes.
• Complete ad-hoc special projects or requests from management.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• 6+ years of accounts payable experience.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to follow procedures and established processes.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks. Consistently meet deadlines with the ability to execute multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Understanding of general ledger account structure.
• General accounting systems knowledge (Prendio, NetSuite, etc.).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team while generating quality project deliverables.
• A willingness to occasionally work extended hours during peak times (quarter-end, year-end), as necessary.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders across the organization.
